     The José Valdés Math Institute is an organization whose mission is to improve students' skills in math and close the achievement gap in San Jose and Silicon Valley.

The original vision of Mr. José Valdés was to ensure that minority and underrepresented children be given equal opportunities to succeed in mathematics. This ideal provides the foundation of our philosophy at Valdés.

Support the Valdés Math Institute Through the José Valdés Math Foundation

The José Valdés Math Foundation is a non-profit organization that was created for the sole purpose of supporting the José Valdés Math Institute.  It is an organization consisting of former and current students, parents, and staff, as well as others who believe in the program and want to help.

The goal of the Foundation is to raise money for and provide services to the José Valdés Math Institute in the form of donations and volunteers. Those who are interested in making a monetary donation or in volunteering their services can contact the Foundation by mail or email:

In the past 20 years I have seen nothing but excellence evolve from students who have attended the Jose Valdes Math Institute. My sixth and seventh grade students have gone on to many colleges and universities after attending the Institute. My two children, Kira and Tyson, both found math success after attending the program. Kira is currently a Teacher/Administrator at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.
